This weekend, we drove to Nebraska City to experience one of the country’s Top 12 Fall Festivals, the Apple Jack festival!
The festival covers the outskirts of Nebraska City, taking over the orchards, parks, and streets with craft fairs, parades, and events.
We began our day at the Pumpkin Ridge Craft Fair.
Liv enjoyed a pony ride with mama by her side!
Ponies weren’t the only things ready to be ridden. Liv also boarded the train!
The rides were so affordable. Pony rides were just $3 while the “train” fare was $2.
Shopping was also on the agenda. There were hundreds of vendors with unique products. John and I found several pieces that we wanted for our home, but we couldn’t fit them in the car!
Liv went home with a bow, pillow, and a balloon. This was just the beginning. Dad had other plans for Liv.
Read all about it on my latest momaha.com post! Here is a preview. . .
After riding every animal and vehicle we could, Liv took a nap in the car while J. and I tried to buy what I came for. . .apples.
We stopped at the Kimmel Orchard, but it was so packed, we couldn’t even reach the line to pay for an apple yet alone pick a peck.
On the way out of town, we made a stop at Union Orchard. My favorite buys (besides my 10 lb. bag of apples) were a bottle of their signature apple wine and a 1/2 gallon of cherry cider, perfect for making sangria (which I tasted on site).
We will definitely be returning to Nebraska City to pick some apples next Fall. Next time, we plan to attend earlier in the season when it’s not as crowded, but we will still enjoy the festivities during the Apple Festival weekend as well!
It’s just a short drive from Omaha, and certainly deserving of top festival status!
