Bellevue Dance Academy- Zumba Fitness

bda

When Liv was two months old, I discovered Zumba.

Zumba is a fusion of aerobics and dance. Moves include hip hop and salsa, lunges and kicks, and a whole lot of “Ay Carumba!”

My dedication to Zumba faltered when I faced the biggest obstacle new mom’s face on their weight loss journeys.

Guilt.

Between work, freelancing, and trying to get my body back, I was so busy. Time with my family is so important, but unfortunately, it is often limited during the week. When the weekend hit, I wanted to soak up every second with Liv and J.

I know that taking care of myself and my health is just as important as spending time with my daughter. By focusing on my needs, I am a better mother and will live a longer life with her. It’s still hard to take that time away from her when I really just want to be cuddling, coloring, and laughing with Liv and my husband.

I found a solution at Bellevue Dance Academy.

Zumba classes at BDA fit any schedule, from the stay-at-home mom who wants to work out on Monday or Tuesday mornings to the mom who works outside the home that wants to shake her groove thing at night. Finally, there is a Saturday morning class for everyone!

Owner Susan Quint wants families to be able to stay fit no matter what their schedules look like!

That’s why BDA’s Zumba classes are kid-friendly!

That doesn’t mean you won’t sweat. It’s an hour long workout of heart pumping dance, but your kids are welcome to dance beside you or play with toys in the room (which are sanitized and updated often)! Liv did a little of both while I was able to get in a much needed workout with my favorite type of fitness.

An hour Zumba workout burns 500-1000 calories! I can’t think of a better way to stay fit and have fun at the same time.

Before you say, “I will look silly” or “I don’t know how to dance”, give it a try. Dance (or anything that requires coordination for that matter) is not my strong suit. With Zumba, it doesn’t matter. The steps can be challenging but after a few times, you will get it! And if you don’t? Just keep moving! You’ll burn, you’ll learn, and you can do it with or without your little ones!

Bellevue Dance Academy’s Zumba instructor, Tianna, is friendly, fun, and patient with newcomers. She’ll give you options to do some basic, beginning steps or step-it-up to make your workout more challenging. Personalizing your fitness class is one of the things that makes Tianna such a great instructor!

What are you waiting for?

Check out Zumba at Bellevue Dance Academy during the following times:

Mondays 9-10 am

Tuesdays 9-10 am

Thursdays 6:45-7:45 pm

Saturdays 8:30-9:30 am

Zumba at Bellevue Dance Academy is so affordable! At just $4 a class, you can get a workout for less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks. As a bonus, buy a 10 class punch card for only $32 like I did! That’s like getting two classes for free!

If you have children, check out BDA’s wide array of dance classes as well. There are even non-recital options for toddlers through age 5.

Liv is a proud member of the Toddling Twosomes since September. Watching her learn dance moves and how to follow directions has made me a proud mama!

Sounds like a ton of fun. I’m not as close as I’d like to be, but I’m thinking of popping in for some Sat. sessions when I have to take my son to his events in Bellevue.

I’d love to try Zumba. Sounds like a lot of fun and fitting exercise into your routine is always so much easier when it’s enjoyable.

Zumba is fantastic! Besides the sweat and burning almost 1000 calories, it doesn’t feel like a workout. Just dancing and fun!
