I started this blog in June 2012. Liv had just turned one year, and I really wanted to just. . .write. Writing had always been my passion. My first degree was in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations, and I worked as a reporter and in various editing positions on our college newspaper.
Late nights, greasy BBQ and pizza, and loads of Mountain Dew kept my writer’s spirit alive during the college years.
I blogged back then too. They didn’t really call it “blogging”. It was an Open Diary or a few years later, Xanga, or Live Journal. That was the beginning of my meanderings online. It slowed down a little when I realized it was time to pursue my other passion.
When my heart turned to teaching, I still wrote, but focused a lot on fiction. I published a few short snippets here and there, but it was the journalistic, nonfiction writing that I knew I was born to do.
I asked my friend, Bolton, what I should do. Was a mommy blog too cheesy? I knew I wanted to write about my kids, but I didn’t want to bore the world with my constant chattering and pictures. I wanted to give it an edge.
It took awhile, but I have established a following, and I am discovering that I did not only miss the writing, I missed the networking. Meeting other bloggers online and in person to discuss our struggles and victories is an incredible experience.
Last summer, I had the opportunity to meet some extremely talented, seasoned writers in the House of Writers, as we journeyed to Kansas and enjoyed the solitude of nature and camaraderie of eclectic writing spirits.
This summer, I am finding a whole new group of writers through the July Challenge I am hosting on Facebook. Experiencing the highs and lows of other bloggers and sharing my own triumphs and defeats has not only made me a better blogger, it’s made me a better person.
Now, I am at a new beginning. Liv, Laugh, Love is now self-hosted on its own domain. I have so many goals for this blog, and I cannot wait to see what this new beginning holds for myself, my family, and my fans. Thank you for following and reading!
