Joining us today is featured Fan Friday blogger Cindy from Superheroes and Teacups!
1. What inspired your blog name?
When I first started blogging in 2010, I picked Adventures of a Modern Day Housewife because it sounded cute. Over the next 2 1/2 years, I only posted a few times and I didn’t take blogging seriously. This June, when I decided to really try to make something out of my blog, I wanted a new name that fit me better and was a little more original. I have twin six year old boys who love superheroes and all of that “boy stuff.” Plus I love teacups (I have about 30) and all of that “girl stuff.” So Superheroes and Teacups was born!
2. What is the best thing about being the only woman in a house full of boys? What is the worst thing?
The best thing about being the only woman in a house full of boys is that I get plenty of “me” time. My boys treasure the time they spend with their dad doing guy stuff so they don’t mind that Mommy doesn’t always want to come along. I just take those opportunities to curl up with a good book or watch “Downton Abbey” again. The worst part is that I don’t have anyone at home to share my love of teacups and period dramas and stuff like that.
3. Who is your favorite Disney character? Editor’s Note: Cindy is a HUGE Disney fan and writes about Disney World Tips and Savings on her blog
My favorite Disney character is Cinderella. I think all little girls named Cindy are connected to her!
4. What was your best mommy moment?
My best mommy moment was the day my boys were born. I’m 5’1″ and I weighed 104 pounds when I got pregnant. No one expected me to go full-term without bedrest, but I did. I made it to my 38 week c-section and delivered two babies with a healthy weight. I was so thrilled that they were healthy and big and didn’t need any time in the NICU. They got to come home with me!
5. Do you miss being a teacher? If so, what do you miss the most?
This is a tough one. I miss the good parts of teaching. You know, the actual teaching. Seeing the joy and pride in my students’ faces when they learn something. What I don’t miss is the other stuff. Discipline issues, uncooperative parents, standardized testing, bureaucracy problems, and the long, LONG hours. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives in my mind. So, I guess the answer is no, I don’t miss teaching.
