Why can’t babies sleep on Boppy Newborn Lounger?

Are Boppy loungers bad?
The risk: When babies are left unattended or sleeping on these products, they may roll over or their heads may fall in such a way that can block their airway and lead to suffocation.
Can newborns sleep in Boppy?
Never place your baby to sleep on pillows, quilts, sheepskins, or other soft surfaces. Do not use a boppy pillow in a crib, cradle, bassinet, playpen, play yard or bed. When using the boppy pillow do not leave baby unattended – adult supervision is always required.

What is the best way for a newborn to sleep?
Always place your baby on his or her back to sleep, not on the stomach or side. The rate of SIDS has gone way down since the AAP introduced this recommendation in 1992. Use a firm sleep surface. Cover the mattress with a sheet that fits snugly.
Can newborns sleep elevated?

Machine wash delicate cycle, 30˚C/85˚F. Tumble dry low on delicate cycle. While drying pillow, throw a sneaker or tennis ball (wrapped in a pillow case) in the dryer to help the pillow keep its shape. Only non-chlorine bleach when needed.

Why can’t babies sleep on their side?
The main risk of putting a baby to sleep on their side is that they will fall onto their stomach. When a baby is too young to support their head, this may mean that their face becomes stuck against the mattress, making it hard to breathe. Most babies can fully support and lift the head by the age of 4 months.
Is it OK for newborn to sleep on his side?

Can a baby sleep in a Dockatot?
No. The Dock A Tot is marketed for us as an in-bed co-sleeper. They even recognize on their website that it is not recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Our office does follow the guidelines set forth by the AAP, so we cannot recommend use of the Dock A Tot.
