Last week, I wrote about Omaha Steaks Job Fairs and the hiring process. Don’t forget that the job fairs are still going on all of October (MTW beginning at 8 a.m.!) See the hiring post for specific details on the process!

When it comes to call center jobs, there can be a lot of fear about the training process. Will the trainers provide me with enough information to do my job? Will I get the support I need once I am on the phone?

When it comes to Omaha Steaks training, the answer is absolutely YES.

I was hired at trained with Omaha Steaks in 2006, and the staff that trained me is still there! They know the products, people, and are fantastic educators. I was good at my job, but I couldn’t have excelled without the positive training staff to give me a good start at the company.

Training is 20 hours (one week M-F) for temporary employees. Should your holiday position transition into a permanent job, additional training will be given.

The focus of holiday training is selling points on the product, having a positive attitude, and understanding the computer systems for entering orders. Expectations are clear. Each day, you will know what you are going to learn when you walk in the door.

Since many employees are coming from another job, staying at home with their kids, or need to stick to a certain amount of hours because of retirement/social security, several options from day to night hours are available for the M-F 4 hour/day training schedules. You will be given your training and holiday schedule when you are hired.

Training doesn’t really feel like “work” at Omaha Steaks. There are games to review product and computer system knowledge, prizes, and of course, tastings.

Now, you know about the hiring process and training. If you’re not convinced yet that Omaha Steaks offers the best holiday job around, stay tuned for the next post on benefits. . .some which last after your temporary position ends!

It’s fantastic! It’s perfect for stay-at-home moms, retirees, and teachers looking for extra income. I did it as the latter, and it sure helped!

It’s great to know that there are companies that take that training period very seriously. Once the customer is on the phone, things can fall apart quickly if a person is not trained properly..
